If you’re looking to reduce your waste and want a fun way to use up your used coffee grounds, this homemade coffee liqueur recipe will be perfect for you. It’s super simple, requires very little equipment and it’s much cheaper than buying a bottle!

Equipment
To make this recipe you’ll need the following equipment:
1 container with a lid
A spoon
A sieve or strainer
A bottle (I like a pretty swing-top one to make it look more professional)
A label
Ingredients
For this recipe you only need three ingredients, how easy is that?
Used coffee grounds
Sugar
Spirit of your choice (I like this banana peel rum)
Method
Take your used coffee grounds and weigh them. You want to have equal parts sugar to coffee, so however much coffee you have, that’s how much sugar you’ll need. Add the sugar to the coffee grounds in your container and leave for 2 days with the lid on.
Once two days have passed, open up your container and give your sugary coffee grounds a mix.
Add in an equal amount of your spirit. This can be any spirit you like. Vodka is more traditional, but Rum and Whiskey can add an amazing second dimension of flavour.
Strain into a bottle and label!
This should keep for around 3 months (depending on the ABV) and you can use it to make all your favourite coffee cocktails. Here’s a recipe for a White Russian or why not try an Espresso Martini?
White Russian
Combine equal parts Vodka, Milk (I like Oat Milk) and your homemade coffee liqueur in a rocks glass over ice and give a little mix. That’s it! It’s super indulgent, I love to have one in place of dessert.
