You know how to write an amazing caption (or you will if you read this), but your photos are a huge part of your Social Media, so they need to be on point too. Here are my top tips on how to take better photos for Instagram.
Use natural light
If you’re indoors get in front of a window. You want to have the light coming from the side or from behind you. You can also play around at different times of the day to get different types of light. Morning light will be soft and delicate, whilst afternoon/evening light will be bold and dramatic.
Here are some examples of photography using natural light at different times of day.

Practice editing
It is such a huge portion of your picture, so take the time to learn how to edit properly. It can help to find styles you like and make notes on why you like that editing style. Think about the colours, tones, lighting and clarity.
If you don’t have the time, you can pay some photographers to edit your photos for you (I find photographers via Instagram) or download presets for Lightroom, which will speed up
Here are some examples of different editing styles to give you inspiration.

Experiment with framing
You don’t always have to have the subject of your photo right in the centre. Sometimes it can give a whole new perspective when you move the object into a corner or add a plant to the foreground. You can also play around with taking the same picture from different angles. Keep your subject in the centre and move around it. Look at how it changes the dynamic of the photo and what your eye is drawn to.
Clean your lens!
Whether it’s your phone or a digital camera, clean your lens before you shoot. You’ll be amazed by the clarity.
