A strong caption can make or break your post. It can inspire your audience to act, increase your engagement and help connect you to your community. It’s a vital part when planning your social media as part of a marketing strategy. These are my top tips for writing captions that keep people reading.
Tell a Story
Your caption is a brilliant space to tell your story. How and why did you start your business? What inspires you? Was there something you had to overcome? Be honest and open with your audience and they will connect with you.
Ask a Question
By starting your caption with a question you can quickly show your audience what you’re going to be talking about. Remember, they’ll only see the first couple of lines of your captions before having to click to read more. Draw them in and make them want more!
You can also finish your caption with a question to encourage your audience to comment on your post or even message you directly.
Add a call-to-action
Tell you audience what you want them to do. They’re not mind readers so you have to be clear. Do you want them to view your Instagram Stories, comment on your post, click the link in your bio? You’ll be amazed how one small sentence can change your numbers drastically.
Share your knowledge
You have something to share, it’s why your business exists right? Share that knowledge with your audience. Whether it’s recipes they can make with your product or a list of your favourite bars in Manchester, it’s teaching your community something they didn’t know.
*TOP TIP* These posts are perfecting for your audience to save & share, so encourage them to do so.
