Linden Leaf are creating a whole new perspective on how drinks can be made and even looking at the way we garnish our drinks too. The company is made up of Paul, Mukund and Matthew, 3 avid cooks and lovers of drinks and flavours. Although the do many different things, today we’re talking about their Cocktail Elements.

What are Cocktail Elements?
Cocktail Elements are sustainable garnish sprays, designed to replace citrus peels when garnishing cocktails. They come in three flavours, lemon, lime and orange.
How do Linden Leaf make them?
Each expression has to be treated differently, so although there is a similar process for each product, it’s not as simply as copying and pasting the method. To give you an idea, the lemon is made with Organic Lemons in the peak of their season using a chilled extraction method (super technical but worth it).

Sustainable eh?
The labels use sustainable ink and they’re trying to stick to glass packaging as much as possible. It’s very difficult for small companies to get hold of sustainable packaging, so I was really pleased to hear about the work Linden Leaf are doing to constantly improve their packaging. The labels are recycled and any plastic is cellulose based, meaning it decomposes.
When it comes to the ingredients, the fruit is bought in season and every part of the fruit is used. Any left over parts aren’t thrown away, for instance, the juice is sent to schools.
How do you use them?
It’s very simple. Just add a spritz over your drink like you would with a citrus zest. It will give you all the aroma and flavour you’d usually get, so it’s an absolute win.
Try the Orange over an Old Fashioned, the lemon over a Martini and the lime over a G & T or just experiment, there are an unlimited number of options to try!
