One of the most common statements I hear from clients is that they run out of ideas for Social Media content. They want to post every day, but can’t think of enough ideas and end up giving up halfway through the month. But I have a secret. This method will make sure you always have ideas for Social Media content and will never run out of posts.
Social Media Content Themes
This technique is simple and will work for all businesses. You’ll need to choose 4-12 themes that you want to talk about with your audience. You can use your USPs, key messaging and brand ethos for the bulk of your themes and then add-in themes that would educate/ entertain your audience.
Here I show you an example of what you could use if you were an eco-friendly spirit brand.
- Facts about how the product is made
- Re-use – recipes and tips on how to use items that would usually be thrown away
- Cocktail Recipe
- User-generated content on how to re-use our bottle using our unique hashtag
- Shout to venues stocking the product
Posting Pattern
Once you’ve decided on your themes, arrange them into an order that separates your ‘sales’ posts. You don’t want to constantly be selling to your audience. This is now your posting pattern.
Follow this pattern on your prime posting days/ times. This pattern will tell you what your need to post and when you’ll be posting it, giving you time to collect imagery and write captions.
Refresh
Keep an eye on which posts are performing well and which aren’t. Around every 3 months (depending on how often you are posting) refresh your posting themes. You might want to get rid of one theme that isn’t performing well or add in additional themes that you think your audience would enjoy.
And that’s how you never run out of ideas on what to post!
